Coast and Island Region
Currently in this sub-network; on the island and sunshine coast there are three parishes, two church plants in progress, and one house church. These ministries are supported by 11 clergy, including two new deacons ordained in May 2009.
We began our new 'sub-network' life for the Vancouver Island and Coast by having a day of fellowship, worship, food and discussion with the clergy from Victoria, Comox, Port Alberni, Madeira Park and Nanaimo in October 2008. It is our hope to plan a fall 2009 event to include our parishes in fellowship and worship if schedules will permit.

The Light of Christ Church, Nanaimo, B.C.
The Light of Christ Church is devoted to shining as a beacon of hope in our community. We hold to the inerrancy of God's truth as it is written in the Bible and as we have experienced it. We are committed to the growth and ministry of a Christ-centred mainstream church in the city of Nanaimo, reaching out to all who need Jesus. Prayer is recognized as an essential element in our worship and decision making.
We have a heart for the poor and needy. We conduct regular prison services and counselling and we share in an interdenominational joint project in a needy part of Nanaimo. This involves sports, education, and social events for youth. Most of our members are in three home groups which meet for encouragement, training, and accountability in discipleship. Our men have gradually developed a work party group for those needing minor home maintenance and repairs and who are unable to do these themselves or to hire the work done. Some of our newest worshippers and visitors come from our community outreach ventures.
We are committed to spiritual growth and evangelism through service and witness in the community. Visitors and newcomers are actively welcomed into our worshipping community by making them comfortable in our gatherings.

Jericho Road was birthed in January 2007 after a turbulent ten years as an independent church called Alberni Christian fellowship. The core of the leadership and membership has roots in the Anglican Church – in fact over 60 years as St. Alban’s Anglican Church in Port Alberni. In 1996 86% of the congregation agreed to withdraw from the Anglican Church of Canada because of the direction the national church was adopting and the lack of a Scriptural foundation. Now, finally re-affiliating with the North American ‘new’ Anglican initiative we are enthusiastic to grow and expand in the mid-island region of Vancouver Island. We are an eclectic group with a traditional Anglican infrastructure supporting and undergirding a contemporary expression of community life and worship. We are working on a vision to plant a new church somewhere on the East Coast of the Island within the next year (2009). We love worship, learning how to release the gifts of the Spirit and more effectively proclaim and manifest the Kingdom of God, and reaching out relationally to share the love and power of Jesus with those who do not yet know him.

The Table aims to draw people into communion with Christ, community with one another, and send people on a mission to bless our neighbors. When God promised Abram (Abraham) land and descendants in Genesis 12, Abram set up places of worship down the spine of Canaan. In a similar way, we want to establish many ‘tables’ in neighborhoods throughout Greater Victoria where people can worship God, grow in community, and serve and bless their neighbors.
Our vision is to see Jesus Christ revealed in common life - that is, life lived out in community, sustained and energized by the Holy Spirit. In order to do this well are organized as a pomegranate, which as a single fruit (the church) has within it many clusters (our neighborhood groups). This model will allow us to impact our own neighborhoods as well as the city as a whole.
Practically, we hope to become a network of Christian communities who come together every other Sunday evening for common worship, but who regularly gather in neighborhood and life groups to worship God and serve and bless our neighbors.
The fact is, most of the people in Victoria will never set foot into a church gathering apart from a wedding or funeral. We figure that if we can’t bring people to the church, then we should bring the church to the people. This means worshipping God in our own neighborhoods and serving our actual neighbors. If we don't know our neighbors, how can we love them?
We live out common life not only in distinct neighborhoods, but as residents of a region. Just as the life of Christ should impact our immediate neighbors, it should have a ripple-effect throughout the city. Gathering as a group of individual clusters will declare our unity in Christ to the rest of Greater Victoria and allow us the dynamism and resources of a large group along with the intimacy and feel of small and midsize groups.
In addition to meeting every first and third Sunday of the month for common worship as The Table (at Church of Our Lord), we also meet in five weekly groups spread throughout Greater Victoria. God-willing we will formally launch The Table in Sept 2010.
